The Heart of Acts In Action
It all started as a home Bible study in 2018.
Every Wednesday and Sunday, we would gather with a small Ethiopian family of four and simply open the Scriptures together, beginning in Genesis and working through the Bible chapter by chapter. There was no rush and no grand plan. Our only desire was to share the truth of Christ through His Word.
For five years, the core group remained small: just a family of four. Day after day, week after week, we expounded the Scriptures, tracing God's redemptive story from the Garden of Eden all the way to the book of Revelation. The goal was never merely to finish the Bible; it was to feed hungry souls and witness the transforming and enlightening power of God's Word.
Then slowly, people began inviting friends, and those friends invited others. Before long, the small gathering of 6 became 10, then 15, 20 , 25, 30+. It was clear, the Lord continued adding to our number such as would be saved. Eventually, the house could no longer contain everyone and as doors began to open, the meetings moved onto campus. There was a growing hunger for God's Word, and it was clear that the Lord was doing something special. Soon, the Wednesday Bible studies were no longer enough. A question emerged: where would these new believers gather on Sundays?
Out of that need, Sunday services were born, meeting every afternoon at 2:30 PM.
Baptisms became a regular, every week, and even multiple baptisms in the same week. The waters had been stirred. What we had read in the book of Acts was no longer just history on a page; it was unfolding before our eyes.
We witnessed genuine repentance. Young men and women wept over years spent living apart from God. Consider what that means in this generation: seeing 18, 19, and 20+ year-olds willingly walk away from the pleasures and promises of the world in order to follow this narrow path of following Christ.
Many were international students who had gone abroad expecting to experience "the good life." Instead, they encountered the living God. When they eventually returned home, they carried something far greater than a university degree. They returned with the gift of eternal life and a faith that continues to burn brightly, even across oceans and continents.
This is the heart behind Acts in Action.
“Our desire is to return to the spirit of the book of Acts, where believers went out proclaiming the Gospel, making Christ known where He had not yet been preached, and seeing lives transformed by His power.”
We have seen people set free from strongholds of sin, depression, anxiety, sexual immorality, deception, and the many bondages that keep people from experiencing the freedom found in Christ. We have watched God restore lives, renew minds, and draw people into a genuine relationship with Him.
Acts in Action is more than a Bible study or a church gathering. It is a place where people can grow in Christ, ask questions, be discipled, and experience authentic Christian fellowship. It is a place where you are welcomed as you are while being lovingly encouraged toward the person God is calling you to become.
Beyond the meetings, we walk together through the realities of everyday life, whether it’s CV applications, moving house, supporting one another through challenges, vulnerabilities shared through our “Shame Free Hour” segment, social events and deep chats within our sisterhood and brotherhood communities.
Acts in Action is a family: brothers and sisters in Christ committed to walking alongside one another as we follow Jesus together.
And by God's grace, the story is still being written. As this journey continues, we look forward to sharing testimonies, lessons, and stories of God's work in the lives of those connected to Acts in Action. We pray that these accounts will encourage, strengthen, and point others to Jesus Christ.
